With our total material recovery facility (TotalMRF), we can make this an affordable option for every municipality and government. Our TotalMRF solution captures high-value recyclables and converts the rest of the waste to NovaFuel. It pairs off-the-shelf sorting and material recovery equipment with our patented NovaDry system to divert up to 90% of waste and avoid harmful methane emissions.

STEP 1 | We gather your waste

STEP 2 | Material recovery equipment sorts recyclables and inert material
- Leverages proven equipment used widely at mixed-waste MRFs: optical sorters, magnets and eddy currents.
- Can tailor capture rate of plastics, non-ferrous and ferrous metals and PVC to meet customer requirements.
- Simpler, lower-cost system than single-stream MRF’s because any rejects can be processed into RDF.
STEP 3 | Patented drying technology pulverizes and dries waste into NovaFuel
- Simple system pairs industrial shredder with air injection to remove 60%+ moisture without heat or pressure – creating nucleating particles that form clouds.
- Consumes 85% less energy than thermal drying technologies, making it the lowest energy waste drying solution.
- No volatile organic compounds or toxins are released in the process.
- Waste is converted into shredded, dry and odorless fuel in minutes that can be used to produce cleaner cement, power, steel, or sustainable fuels.
STEP 4 | NovaFuel can be compacted, baled, and wrapped for transport to the customer
- Every 2 tons of MSW stream produces 1 ton of NovaFuel. NovaFuel ton is ~15MMBtu and avoids 1.7 tons of CO2 from landfill emissions.
- Every bale is 43x43x60 and contains approximately 1.5 tons of NovaFuel.
- Combine no odor, leachate, or methane and can be stored for 10+ years.
- Baled & wrapped NovaFuel can be stored 10+ years.
- Significantly less volume and weight than mixed waste, lowering transport cost.
